In Gujarati food, it is the part of everyday meal and its taste is mild sweet and sour compared to any other indian daal.

Ingredients OF Gujarati Dal

  • ½ cup toor dal
  • ½ tomato, chopped
  • 5 dried kokum
  • ¼ tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp kashmiri red chilli powder
  • ½ tsp coriander powder
  • ½ tsp cumin powder
  • ¼ tsp garam masala
  • 1 chilli
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp jaggery 
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 2 cup water
  • 2 tbsp peanuts
  •  cup water
  • 2 tbsp coriander

for tempering:

  • 1 tsp ghee
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • ½ tsp jeera
  • ¼ tsp methi 
  • 1 inch cinnamon
  • 2 dried red chilli
  • few curry leaves

How To Make Gujarati Dal

  1. Take toor dal, chopped tomatoes, kokum, turmeric, red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, chilli, ginger paste, salt, gud, water in a cooker and pressure cook them all.
  2. Whisk the dal until it turns creamy.
  3. Add 1½ cup water and boiled peanuts.
  4. Simmer for 5 minutes, or until the flavours are well absorbed.
  5. Now take a pan, put some ghee, put mustard,jeera, methi, cinnamon, chilli and curry leaves in it.
  6. Add 2 tbsp coriander and mix well.
  7. Put thadka in the gaal.
  8. enjoy gujarati dal.
